Birthdays and Offense

Birthdays:
Joe 11/30
Sheryl 6/27
Taylor 8/06
Jaree 3/15
Loren 9/23
Alli 8/30

With regards to Jolene's email.........I'm offended that it wasn't sent to me! I want an equal opportunity to be offended, please!

For everyones info, I went to Globe Friday: I have all the chili.....will finish grinding which will take about 3 full days then will give everyone one last chance to let me know if you're interested in sharing it. Also, Mom and I went to MVD and got the title and registration on their camp trailer updated and changed to my name for ease in selling it. I have it at a repair shop getting a new holding tank installed. After that, I will advertise it here and try to sell it for mom. I would give all Jaree's address but they just moved to their own place and I don't know it yet.

Love to all

Joe Jr

Offensive E-mail

Apparently I offended some family members by sending out an e-mail about proposition 106. I am sorry if it did. Proposition 106 is a proposition to let the government have more strict regulations on state trust land. This is something that Alan and I have put a lot of effort into opposing because of his career for one thing and because of the land we use for camping and riding that could be closed to us.

I feel bad that some didn't appreciate my comments about that in the e-mail. I apologize and promise to keep my political opinions to myself. The family member who asked me to remove their name from my adress book can rest assured that it has been done.

I Haven't Lost Interest!

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted you all to know that I haven't lost interest in the blog. I have been too busy to even sleep for the last 2 months...which has made me quite cranky! I haven't been sending Adam's emails on because I have been having someone read them to me while I'm cooking dinner before dashing off to band practice. I think that when you don't even have time to sit down at the computer for 20 minutes you are WAY too busy. Tonight I am waiting up for Jalenna to come home (she got her driver's license 2 weeks ago----YEAH!!!!!) from decorating her class float for Homecoming (she is VP of her class and takes it very seriously!) so I have a little time to "take care of business!"

I hope everyone is well. We are all doing fine here. We are going next week to stay with Saralyn for a few days. I can't wait to get my hands on her tummy!!! I have already started buying baby clothes! By the way.....IT'S A GIRL!!!!! But I'm keeping the receipts just in case!!!!

I hope we can keep this blog going. I have always felt very isolated out here in NM! I love and miss all of you.

Our birthdays
  • Marion - January 22
  • Lynda - July 22
  • Saralyn - July 1
  • Eric - September 25
  • Baby Saralyn - ETA January 17!!!
  • Bethany - July 22
  • Adam - January 27
  • Jalenna - February 1
  • Amanda - January 2
  • Tyler - August 11

Wow! That was a long list!!!!!

Love you all,

Lynda

Susan you are a genius!!

I love the idea of everyone putting their b-day information here - so we can all make sure we have it. I sent the info to Joy - but I would really love to have everyone's!! Ashley - can you put your whole family on - I'm not sure if your parents are reading this....

News from the Oregon Front

Hi Everyone! I thought I would post a quick note and let everyone know what we are up too here. Ora started the 7th grade about 2 weeks ago and is loving it. The schools are alot different here then in Arizona so it has taken some getting use to for both of us. She is not playing any sports at the moment but would like to play tennis. So we will see what happens. She finished up her hunter safety course so she will be going deer hunting next month and will be elk hunting in January. She has been doing alot of salmon fishing with Brian and is really enjoying it. For those of you who don't knowI got my CPC about two years ago . I am currently the Patient Account Manger for the Oregon Coast Spine Institute. I am still date the same guy. We are currently renting a house out in the country but are hoping to buy a house sometime in the next year or two. I would really like to keep in contact better with everyone so I would appreciate it if everyone could email me their address, phone number and birthdays. My email address is mafic13@yahoo.com. I love you all.

Sunday Evening Post News

Kudos to those who keep this blog going! Went to Roosevelt for the first time in two years. Friend bought a Tige ski boat. Sure was nice to get up easily and not made to feel like a fat whale! Alli even got up slalom first try in two years. Loren has moved home for a few months to earn some money prior to his entering into chef school in January. I am so hopeful his time here will allow him to see the better road and desire to stay on it. Alli is seminary president this year and it has affected her outlook on responsibility to the younger crowd. Jaree and Alex found a house to rent somewhere around Recker and Baseline and are very excited to be doing their own thing as a new family. By the way, her due date is end of March I think. We need all your prayers for Taylor. He is sure struggling but doesn't seem ready to accept counsel so we're just trying to wait it out. Both businesses are going great though I am burned out on exterminating. I just wrote down a three year exit plan and found renewed energy knowing there is an end coming. I love you all.

Sunday Special

Just wanted to say hi! Alan had a great time playing golf with Jeremy and Kenny yesterday. He is playing tomorrow with some people from work and was glad to get a chance to try out Big Bertha before then. We went to the Diamondbacks v. Rockies game last night and did something we have never done before - we left before it was over!! We left during inning 14 - and still made it home before it was done - we caught the end on t.v. It was the longest baseball game in Diamondback history - it was painful. But we had a good time. What a blessing to have our kids finally old enough that we can go out without getting a sitter.

My only other news is - my hair is RED!!!! I wanted it "naturalized" or just closer to what my roots are growing out to be - and it is kind of a strawberry blonde. I asked Alan if he felt like he was cheating on me by going out with a redhead last night. I am still shocked when I look in the mirror. But my friends at church weren't as shocked by it as I imagined they were going to be. Anyway, I'm sure I will get used to it.

Have a great week everyone!

Yesterday

Last night with all of the news programs doing Sept. 11 - 5 years later shows, I was thinking a lot about that time. We moved into our house on Monday, Sept. 10. Tuesday morning I took the kids to their new school, as I was in the office filling out the last bit of paperwork, parents were coming in and checking their kids out of school etc... Then Susan called my cell phone and told me that something was going on and I needed to get to a T.V. As I was driving home I turned on the radio and heard a little of what was going on. When I got home I told Alan to hurry and get one of our T.V.'s unloaded and plugged in. We didn't have any furniture or anything in the house but we found a T.V. and sat on the stairs and watched what was happening all day. We didn't get much moved in or unpacked that day.

It was a wonderful time to be with Dad however. He and I spilled a lot of tears watching patriotic programs and listening to songs together. He was recovering from his second surgery and was spending a lot of time here. I am so glad I developed and learned a love of country from Dad.

God Bless America!!

Where is Everyone?

Did everyone lose interest in the blog?

This weekend was our Stake Youth Conference. Alan and I were host parents - we had all of the Young Women from our ward with us this weekend. It was a very full couple of days - I think the highlight of it all was when we went to Sunshine Acres to do yard work. That place is amazing. The amount of dedication it takes to run a place like that is incredible. Most of the kids who are there are kids of parents who are in jail, on drugs etc...

Devon is being weaned off of his boot. His ankle is still disgusting - it swells quite a bit still. His physical therapist says it could be months before that stops. Courtney is in Disneyland today and tomorrow with her friend. They flew out this morning for her friend's 13th birthday. It's quite a birthday party...

I hope everyone has a great week!! The weather is cooling down a little bit - my early morning walks are starting to be a lot more tolerable.

Love - jolene

First-
I want to send Jaree and Alex a gift-where do I send it to?
Second-
Thank you Jolene, for thinking of me, for one, and we had a great time at Morgan's party, I love getting together, I wasn't feeling well, but I still had a good time. Also Thank you for making the CD...I put it with Amron's so that he would have a copy.
Third-
Lynda, am I off your list for Adam's letters, I haven't gotten one in a VERY LONG time...I would love read them..maybe we should just start posting our sons letters on the blog....or would that be too long for everyone?
Fourth-
Ashley- Where are you?
Finally-
How the heck is everyone? It's been a while since anyone has written in the blog...let's get updated here...
Lyle is still working in Holbrook, he wants us to find some property in the mts. to build a Rustic cabin...so my real estate siblings...up around Heber along the rim somewhere...I don't know our price range...
I am still working in the office...and I am RS. Secretary and between my 2 secretary jobs and sort of keeping house I stay kind of busy...
Deidra is happy and dating a charming young man named Garen, we really like him, he's not a member but he is a good guy. She is busy with her career and lives in Sringville, Utah. She says she like having seasons.
And Amron, is doing great except for the bull incident..which most of you know by now...
Anyway, or anywho....we love you all....Suz

Happy Sunday

After reading Lisa's post and talking to her a little bit - I was wondering if everyone has that CD that she was referring to. It is called Of God and Country and has some of Dad's favorite hymns and patriotic songs. If anyone would like me to make a copy of that and send it to them I would be glad to do it.

I taught the lesson in YW today. It was on avoiding the degrading influences of the media. It was such a good lesson - I really think the girls did some thinking. I know I did as I was preparing it. I don't really watch that much t.v. but I do love one reality show - watching it after preparing this lesson was a little depressing. I don't think I had noticed how many "bleeps" were in it before.

Anyway, I thought I would share a poem that was in the lesson. I have also heard it quoted at General Conference. It is by Alexander Pope:

Vice is a monster of so frightful mien,
As to be hated needs but to be seen.
Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face,
We first endure, then pity, then embrace.
I hope everyone has a great week! I'm looking forward to seeing some of you at our BBQ tomorrow!
